Guidance
The school counselor works along side students, teachers, other school personnel and parents. The primary emphasis of counseling is to assist students with their normal developmental concerns, career and educational plans, special needs and interpersonal and decision-making skills. Specific responsibilities of the school counselor include structured, goal-oriented counseling sessions in response to personal, educational and vocational needs of individuals and groups of students. Students are urged to plan their high school career and futures carefully and to consult with both their parents/guardians and teachers. Parental involvement is encouraged to insure a coordinated effort by the school and home. A wide variety of materials are available in the Guidance Office to assist students in formulating career plans. College catalogs, college handbooks, occupational information and handbooks are updated annually. Also available are career, college and scholarships search computer programs. Students are encouraged, with direction, to do extensive research on all aspects of their career/college planning.

Students are encouraged to see their counselor whenever there is a need.
* When you feel you are not doing well in some classes
* When you need help in planning or adjusting your program
* When you would like an interpretation of various tests you have been given
* When you would like to talk to someone about a problem
* When you want information about future educational or occupational opportunities

Any student wishing to meet with a guidance counselor should request a pass to the guidance office or leave a note for his/her guidance counselor asking for a pass.
